The Association is non-political and non-profit, and its goals are as follows:
To represent its members in their various professional roles and within the activities outlined in Article 6 and subsequent articles of the Association's Statute.
To inform the public about the work of Counsellors and the quality standards they follow, in line with the Association's Statute, Regulations, and Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
To support the development of the counselling profession by promoting quality at both national and international levels through studies and research.
To organise seminars, conferences, and events that deepen the study and spread the practice of Counselling.
To encourage ongoing professional development for members, both through the Association’s own initiatives and by supporting cultural exchanges and lifelong learning programmes in Italy and abroad.
To share and promote books, journals, articles, and other publications on counselling, as well as to create original materials to raise awareness and highlight the value of the profession.
To assist public and private organisations in planning and delivering training and refresher courses—both theoretical and practical—for professionals working in social and educational fields. This includes partnerships with services and organisations whose mission aligns with that of the Association.
To define training standards for practising as a Counsellor, in line with Law no. 4 of 14 January 2013 and updated European guidelines.
To accredit training schools that meet national and European quality standards in the field.
To set up documentation centres and databases on counsellors’ work and accredited training programmes, helping to monitor quality, market trends, local needs, member activities, and user satisfaction.
To promote an internal network among members that ensures fast, efficient, and ongoing communication, and enables the sharing of professional and cultural resources in a modern and accessible way.
To build connections and exchanges with national and international associations with similar aims, and to work toward creating supranational organisations in line with European Union guidelines.
